The sustainability
The primary raw material for silicon is sand, which is abundantly available on the Earth’s surface. Unlike petrochemical-based coatings such as polyurethane, sourcing sand does not require deep drilling or extensive extraction processes. This makes the procurement of silicon’s raw material less taxing on natural resources.
Additionally the production of silicon requires less water, fewer raw materials, and less energy compared to products like PU and PVC, making it a more sustainable option.
